Childcare Funding Programmes


Early Childhood Care and Education Programme (ECCE)

In January 2010 a universal preschool year (ECCE programme) was introduced. This programme is provided in both community and private crèches.

Community Childcare Subvention Programme (CCS)

The CCS programme is a programme funded by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs and offered in most community childcare services. The CCS programme allows eligible parents to access reduced childcare costs at participating community services. 

Participation in the CCS programme is restricted to community/not-for-profit childcare services.

Training and Employment Childcare (TEC) Programmes


The TEC Programmes consist of:


  1. The Childcare Education and Training Support Programme(CETS)

The Childcare Education and Training Support Programme (CETS) is for eligible parents taking part in ETB/Solas (formerly Fás/VEC) training courses.


  1. The After-school Childcare Programme (ASCC)

The After School Childcare Programme is for parents that have been informed by their Local Intreo Centre or Social Welfare Office that they are eligibile for ASCC places.


  1. The Community Employment Childcare Programme (CEC)

The Community Employment Childcare Programme (CEC) is for eligible parents taking part in Community Employment programmes.
