Montessori

Montessori is a method of observing and supporting the natural development of children that helps children to develop creativity, problem solving, critical thinking and time management skills, to contribute to the society and environment, and to become fulfilled and responsible adults. The children learn with ease in a relaxed and orderly environment, and the Montessori teacher respects and guides each child according to his/her unique stage of development.

The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)considers the following elements as essential in Montessori method of education:

  • mixed age and small number classrooms for children aged 2 1/2 or 3 to 6 years old
  • choice of activities from prescribed range of options
  • uninterrupted blocks of work time
  • children learn concepts and practical life skills from direct involvement with materials
  • specialized educational materials developed by Montessori and her collaborators
